Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment is a BIG DEAL!!!!!!!

All automotive courses at Mingus are Dually Accredited through Yavapai College.  This means even as a 9th Grader students will be earning real and transferable COLLEGE CREDIT. The Yavapai College Automotive Technician Certification Program is 18 Credits and Students typically Graduate from Yavapai College the first week of May when they successfully complete their third year of auto here at Mingus.

The required courses are:        Auto1  2 Semesters = YC  AUT100   2 YC Credits

                                    Auto2  Semester 1=    YC AUT123   4 YC Credits

                                                Semester 2=    YC AUT126   4 YC Credits

                                    Auto3  Semester 1=    YC AUT109   4 YC Credits

                                                Semester 2=    YC AUT153   4 YC Credits

College Certificate with          18 YC Credits

Unlike many Dual Enrollment Courses offered within high schools where the content of a semester long college course is taught over a full year in a high school.  With the exception of Auto1 all the Dual Enrollment courses taught in automotive technology at Mingus are semester long college courses taught in one semester.

College level learning and success involves a commitment of time and energy both within and outside of class time from the students to complete this level of work satisfactorily.

There is no difference between the work expected from students enrolled in Dual Enrollment and not enrolled in Dual Enrollment within the automotive program. To obtain college credit the student must earn a grade of C or better.  Grades of D or below do not earn college credit.  If the student is committed to successfully passing an automotive course they should be planning to enroll in dual enrollment.  If they are not planning on being successful in the automotive program, they should immediately see their counselor and find another class and/or program to participate in.
